Carbon Cycle

The key environmental benefit of ethanol is that unlike petroleum, its consumption does not significantly raise levels of CO2. There is scientific evidence to suggest that CO2 levels are a major contributor to global warming.

Using ethanol in petrol, means we use less crude oil to make petrol. Unlike petrol, ethanol is a renewable energy source. There are many advantages of adding ethanol to petrol.

Ethanol reduces carbon monoxide and other toxic pollution from the tailpipes of vehicles and keeps engines running smoothly. Ethanol is made from crops that absorb carbon dioxide and gives off oxygen, it reduces greenhouse gas emissions and helps maintain the balance of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. This process is called the carbon cycle.
